The Story Behind the Name
“Back in 2013 my husband Joe and I started Peerless here in Reno with a single truck and one plain promise: show up on time, quote a fair rate, and treat your belongings like our own. We still put our own trained crew on every job.”
What Cora and Joe have learned over the years is what actually trips up a Reno move, the long hillside driveways in Somersett and Caughlin Ranch, the gated communities that want a gate pass and HOA move-in rules squared away, the narrow older lots and mature trees around the Old Southwest, and the snow and steep grades on the roads up toward Tahoe. What will my move cost?
Two things drive it: the volume you are moving and how tricky the access turns out to be on each end. A crew of two with a truck starts at $110/hr, and a written estimate is in your hands before a single box is lifted. Want one locked figure instead? Cora can set a flat quote, and the number she names is the number on your invoice. Cross a state line and the math shifts over to weight and mileage.
My home is in the Old Southwest, a narrow older lot with mature trees. Can you handle it?
That is a lot of what we do. The Newlands-area streets near the Truckee River are full of established homes on tight lots with big shade trees and older staircases, and the Peerless crew is used to snug turns, low branches, and a longer carry from the curb. We measure the doorways and stairs ahead of time, pad the rails and jambs, and take the heavy pieces slowly. A foothill home with a long, steep driveway gets the same planning, so an older house or a hillside lot never turns into a problem.
My community is gated and needs a gate pass, HOA move-in rules, and a certificate of insurance. Can you handle that?
Yes, and it is routine for us. Plenty of Reno communities, Somersett, ArrowCreek, and the master-planned neighborhoods in South Reno, ask for a gate pass, set move-in hours, and sometimes a certificate of insurance on file before move day. Send us the community’s requirements when you book, and we arrange the gate access, follow the HOA rules, and file any COI, so nothing holds you up at the gate on moving day.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Peerless Moving Assistance carries Nevada licensing and insurance, and Cora and Joe staff every job with their own trained crew, with no broker wedged in the middle taking a cut. There is no easy truck spot, just a tight Midtown street or a long hillside driveway. Is that a problem?
Honestly, that describes half our calendar. Give us the address at booking and we will work out where the truck sits, how a narrow older Midtown street or a long, steep driveway changes the carry, and whether snow or ice on the day calls for extra footing. Our crew shows up ready for foothill grades and a longer walk from the truck, not just a flat suburban driveway.
Do you take a deposit?
Only a small refundable one to hold your date, and because it credits straight back against your final total, you never actually lose any of it. Let us know a day or two ahead if you cancel, and you are refunded in full. Every detail here shows up in your booking right from the start.
How and when do I pay?
Nothing is due from you until the job is done, not one minute earlier. We take cards, check, or cash. Before the truck pulls off, you and the crew lead go over the final total right there at your door and you approve it.
Is there anything you won’t load?
Only a short list, and every item on it comes down to safety and the law: flammables like propane, gasoline, and paint, then ammunition, live houseplants, pets, and any food that will spoil. Have something oversized, seriously heavy, or unusually valuable? Mention it while booking so we roll out with the correct equipment.
